EQUIPMENT CHECK OUT

To participate in First Ice the skater needs to wear some protective hockey equipment (helmet, shin guards and elbow pads).  We have rental equipment available.  There is a $30 deposit required and then a $30 fee, if this is not your first year in our program.  You will get the $30 deposit back when the equipment is returned after the season or session (if not skating the full season).  We will have equipment hand out the first night of each session, come about 30 minutes early.

Also, if you do not have skates, you can use our public skating skates free of charge during the First Ice practice.  These need to be checked out each time and returned the same day.  Get them at the Public Skating skate rental window.

How To Dress For 1st Ice Hockey

Here is a helpful video regarding hockey equipment:  "How To Dress A Hockey Player" LINK below. In the video they talk about needing a stick and hockey socks.  These are not included in the rental gear but most 1st Ice skaters do not need a stick so wait to buy one after the coach says that you need one.  As far as hockey socks, most kids wear leggings or tight jammies/sweatpants for under the shin guards and then bigger or wide leg sweatpants to go over the shin guards, so you don't need hockey socks.
