Summer League: July 15 - August 29, 2025

League Age Levels: (No Checking All Levels)

Level 4  -  Bantam: 2010, 2011 & 2012

Level 3  -  Pee Wee: 2013, 2014

Level 2  -  Squirt: 2015, 2016

Level 1  -  Mite: 2017, 2018 & 2019

League Description:

The purpose of Sheboygan Youth Root Beer League Hockey is to provide an opportunity for players to gain valuable ice time while still allowing families to enjoy summer activities. Once a week, Level 4, 3 and 2 teams will play a fun and challenging full ice hockey game with and against players from around Eastern Wisconsin. Level 4 games will be held Tuesday and Wednesday. Level 2 and 3 games will be held Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Level 1 teams will similarly play cross or half ice Mite format games. All Level 1 players need to register as skaters, no full time goalies will rotate. Level 1 games will take place Wednesday evenings. Depending on player registration, teams may be asked to play a second game once every 3 weeks. Please note that this is for skaters who are able to skate and have some level/hockey knowledge of game play, it is not an instructional program.

Following USA hockey philosophy “the game will teach itself”, Sheboygan Root Beer League will be focused on player participation and fun. Our Level 4,  Level 3 and Level 2 Coaches will be present for player safety and to facilitate game play, but the Root Beer League will emphasize skater ice time. No one gets better at hockey sitting on the bench. Due to the age and experience of Level 1 players, Level 1 coaches may provide more coaching assistance.

At the beginning of the season, efforts will be made by coaches to divide teams equally by player experience and previous year level of competition. Coaches will also match line strength at the beginning of each period. Skaters available for the game and natural progression of the game will mix players as periods progress. Every player will have ample opportunity to showcase their ability. Coaches will let every player play their shift, with exception of the last 2 minutes of a game if needed.

All levels of Root Beer League will be No Checking. Referees will officiate games to USA hockey rules.

Games will be played between the hours of 5:30-9:30pm, with younger birth year skaters playing earlier. Schedule will be released once final registration numbers are in. Deadline to Register is June 13th, 2025. 

League Cost: 

Bantam + Pee Wee Skaters: $125 for games +  jersey

Squirt + Mite Skaters: $115 for games + jersey

Goalies: Fee waived  - $35 if goalie would like to order a jersey
*Goalies for Squirt, PeeWee + Bantam (no permanent goalies for mites)

League Rules: 

No checking at all levels.

Games will be officiated in accordance with USA hockey rules. *No checking.

Any player with 3 penalties in a single game will be ejected from the game.

Any player with 2 game ejections may be removed from the Root Beer League without refund.

Teams with two goalies will switch goalies midway through the 2nd period.

The final week of Root Beer League will consist of a 3rd place and 1st place game determined through round robin tournament rules.

Seeding will be determined by overall record and tie breakers as needed.
